Keolabs Test Robot

An XYZ positioning robot reproduces the position of the device under test, making RF testing reproducible and automated.

The test bench as a whole

A test bench has four elements: software, tester, fixtures and the device under test. This shows where the product sits.

STEP 1 — test programmeSpecification test suite (execution environment: SCRIPTIS™)Test programmes for each specification run on SCRIPTIS™. Delivery form and licence configuration are confirmed per quotation. During a run, prompts appear for placing the device under test and changing fixtures.
STEP 2 — tester platformProxiLAB Quest and similarThe hardware that generates and measures signals, emulating a card or a reader
STEP 3 — fixtures and automationReference antennas, probes and robotsThe reference fixtures defined by the specification must be connected. Without them the suite cannot run. A robot automates position sweeps
STEP 4 — device under testDevice under test: card, terminal or mobile deviceThe product under development, whose conformance and interoperability are being verified

The testing problems this solves

The Keolabs Test Robot addresses the reproducibility of position in RF testing. It automates the positioning of the device under test so that sweeps across the operating volume can be repeated without anyone present. Systematic testing removes the gaps, reliance on individuals and lack of reproducibility that tend to appear at this stage.

The robot range, with actual SKUs

It sweeps the relative position of the device under test and the reference fixture automatically across the whole operating volume, running the position coverage testing required by EMVCo and others reproducibly.

The robot range, with actual SKUs
SC-ROB6x-VS060A six-axis robot. It sweeps the operating volume automatically and meets the EMVCo acceleration requirement of more than 8 m/s². Dedicated supports for mounting probes according to the test specification are included
SC-ROB5x-VP-5243A five-axis robot that sweeps the operating volume automatically, with probe supports for the test specification included
Protective cage (optional)A cage for a safe working environment is available as an option. If the robot is installed without one, the arm must be fixed to a wooden table or similar and integrated into an environment conforming to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Test case coverage

The robot is used together with a test suite. Besides position sweeps for EMVCo Level 1 PCD and PICC analogue testing, it applies to the analogue tests of ISO/IEC 10373-6 and 18745-2. Controlled from SCRIPTIS™, it automates coverage of every position and every bit rate, which is difficult to achieve by hand.

Supported terminals and environments

Used as part of an RF test bench. The device sizes and fixture requirements supported are confirmed at quotation.

Example test configuration and licences

These configurations and licence names are examples based on public information. Current SKUs, the hardware options required and specification versions are confirmed at quotation.

Working with SCRIPTIS™, it runs initialisation, device state control, measurement, verdict and post-processing in sequence. Useful for regression testing.

Where it is used

  • Setting up Level 1 verification for a new development
  • Regression after a configuration change or update
  • Coverage checks ahead of certification

Relationship to certification

What this product performs is conformance testing. Formal type approval is carried out by an accredited test laboratory, and the Letter of Approval is issued by EMVCo or the payment system. What we supply is the test environment and support in operating it.
