Runtime environment

SCRIPTIS™

SCRIPTIS™ is the common UI (execution environment) for running the analogue and digital test programmes of ISO, NFC Forum and EMVCo. Test programmes for each standard (for example the ISO 10373-6 PCD Analog and PCD Digital test suites) run on this environment. Delivery form and licence configuration are confirmed per target suite and quotation.

The test bench as a whole

A test bench has four elements: software, tester, fixtures and the device under test. This shows where the product sits.

STEP 1 — test programmeSpecification test suite (execution environment: SCRIPTIS™)Test programmes for each specification run on SCRIPTIS™. Delivery form and licence configuration are confirmed per quotation. During a run, prompts appear for placing the device under test and changing fixtures.
STEP 2 — tester platformProxiLAB Quest and similarThe hardware that generates and measures signals, emulating a card or a reader
STEP 3 — fixtures and automationReference antennas, probes and robotsThe reference fixtures defined by the specification must be connected. Without them the suite cannot run. A robot automates position sweeps
STEP 4 — device under testDevice under test: card, terminal or mobile deviceThe product under development, whose conformance and interoperability are being verified

The testing problems this solves

SCRIPTIS™ addresses the running of the test suites themselves. It brings script execution, instrument control, log collection and report generation into one environment, moving manual evaluation towards reproducible automated testing. Systematic testing removes the gaps, reliance on individuals and lack of reproducibility that tend to appear at this stage.

Example test configuration and licences

These configurations and licence names are examples based on public information. Current SKUs, the hardware options required and specification versions are confirmed at quotation.

What you buy, and what running it requires

What you buy, and what running it requires
Quotation scopeTest programmes (test suites) for each standard, plus the corresponding fixtures and equipment. SCRIPTIS is the execution environment for each suite; its delivery form is confirmed per quotation.
Fixtures must be connectedEach suite requires the fixtures defined by the specification — reference antennas, probes and so on — to be connected before it will run. When selecting a suite we confirm the fixtures needed alongside it
Prompts during a runDuring a test run, prompts appear telling you to place or move the device under test, or to change the fixture configuration. Analogue testing in particular calls for antennas to be swapped. Having SCRIPTIS does not mean testing completes unattended — although integration with a robot does make automation possible

Configurability

Test parameters can also be changed from configuration files, covering the field strength, global variables such as CID and FSDI, and test command definitions. Scripts can be copied and edited, and the editing and debugging features of SCRIPTIS let you adjust them to your own testing needs.

Where it is used

  • Setting up the runtime environment for a new development
  • Regression after a configuration change or update
  • Coverage checks ahead of certification

Relationship to certification

What this product performs is conformance testing. Formal type approval is carried out by an accredited test laboratory, and the Letter of Approval is issued by EMVCo or the payment system. What we supply is the test environment and support in operating it.
