Keolabs Transport / Access suite

An off-the-shelf test solution for verifying conformance of cards and readers used in transport and access control fare collection. On a foundation of analogue and digital functional testing to ISO/IEC 10373-6 (ISO/IEC 14443) and 10373-7 (ISO/IEC 15693 vicinity cards), it adds the OSPT Alliance CIPURSE application layer. Every suite runs on SCRIPTIS™.

The test bench as a whole

A test bench has four elements: software, tester, fixtures and the device under test. This shows where the product sits.

STEP 1 — test programmeSpecification test suite (execution environment: SCRIPTIS™)Test programmes for each specification run on SCRIPTIS™. Delivery form and licence configuration are confirmed per quotation. During a run, prompts appear for placing the device under test and changing fixtures.
STEP 2 — tester platformProxiLAB Quest and similarThe hardware that generates and measures signals, emulating a card or a reader
STEP 3 — fixtures and automationReference antennas, probes and robotsThe reference fixtures defined by the specification must be connected. Without them the suite cannot run. A robot automates position sweeps
STEP 4 — device under testDevice under test: card, terminal or mobile deviceThe product under development, whose conformance and interoperability are being verified

A shared foundation with a transport application layer

The CIPURSE application layer for transport sits on top of the physical and protocol foundation of ISO/IEC 10373-6 and -7.

Shared foundation (proximity and vicinity)Common Foundation

ISO/IEC 10373-6 covers ISO/IEC 14443 interoperability between cards or tickets and readers, while 10373-7 defines test methods for ISO/IEC 15693 vicinity cards. Both can be used for in-house evaluation during development, ahead of formal certification.

  • ISO/IEC 10373-6: analogue and protocol for ISO/IEC 14443 proximity
  • ISO/IEC 10373-7: analogue for ISO/IEC 15693 vicinity
  • ProxiLAB Quest with SCRIPTIS™ forms the foundation
Card testing (PICC and VICC)Card License Options

Analogue and digital testing of proximity cards (PICC) and vicinity cards (VICC). Note the specification editions: 2025 for PICC and 2019 for VICC.

  • SC-VAL-PICC Analog/Digital ISO14443: conforms to ISO/IEC 10373-6:2025
  • SC-VAL-VICC Analog ISO10373-7: conforms to ISO/IEC 10373-7:2019 for ISO/IEC 15693
Reader testing (PCD)Reader License Options

Analogue and digital testing of transport readers (PCD).

  • SC-VAL-PCD Digital ISO14443: conforms to ISO/IEC 10373-6:2020
The CIPURSE application layerCIPURSE Application

CIPURSE is an open standard for transport fare collection defined by the OSPT Alliance. Built on the established ISO/IEC 7816, AES-128 and ISO/IEC 14443 standards, it supports secure, interoperable and flexible fare collection.

  • SC-VAL-PICC Application CIPURSE V2: conforms to OSPT Alliance CIPURSE
  • A secure transport application built on ISO/IEC 7816, AES-128 and ISO/IEC 14443

Pricing attaches to each test suite, that is to each specification programme, and the SCRIPTIS™ user interface is included. Running a suite requires the corresponding fixtures to be connected, and during testing you follow the prompts for placing the device under test and changing the fixture configuration — swapping antennas in analogue testing, for example.

ISO/IEC 10373-6 and -7 (coverage depends on the configuration and licences)

What distinguishes transport applications is that both proximity (ISO/IEC 14443 and 10373-6) and vicinity (ISO/IEC 15693 and 10373-7) are covered. The specification edition differs by licence: 10373-6:2025 for PICC analogue and digital, 10373-7:2019 for VICC, and 10373-6:2020 for PCD. CIPURSE is built on ISO/IEC 7816, AES-128 and ISO/IEC 14443. This is used for in-house evaluation during development, ahead of formal certification. Current SKUs and specification editions are fixed at quotation.

Where it is used

  • Setting up Level 1 verification for a new development
  • Regression after a configuration change or update
  • Coverage checks ahead of certification

Relationship to certification

KEOLABS supplies test tools that have obtained qualification for the specifications concerned. Formal testing is carried out by an accredited test laboratory, and the approval is issued by EMVCo or the payment system.
